Q&A With Katie Largent, Account Coordinator

Name: Katie Largent

Title: Account Coordinator

Years at Elevation: 9 months

Hometown: Avon Lake, Ohio

Hobbies & interests: Sports, traveling, coaching basketball

Childhood ambition: I wanted to work for NASA, live in Charleston, S.C., and drive a red Chevy SSR.

Best advice you’ve ever received? “Everything happens for a reason.”

Favorite quote: “Play hard; have fun.” It’s something my father would always say to me before basketball and volleyball games and it is a saying I have continued to carry with me.

First job: In high school I worked at an ice cream shop.

Pet peeves: People who over use the word “like,” slow walkers and when there isn’t enough ice cream left in the carton for a full bowl.

Favorite book/movie: Book: “Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN.” Movie: “The Wedding Date.”

Favorite local restaurant: Eat at Joe’s in Cleveland. Breakfast is my favorite meal and they make fantastic French toast and hash browns.

What do you enjoy most about your work? I get to be involved with different projects. Whether it is volleyball, Irish music, ice skating or NASCAR, each project provides its own unique learning experience.

What would people never guess you do in your role? I ship and mail a lot of things. The whole process is usually more difficult than it needs to be.

First significant memory at Elevation: The Daytona 500. It may not be my first memory, but definitely is my favorite so far. I am a big racing fan so being at the track for one of the biggest events of the season was an amazing experience. I also enjoyed spending time with our Charlotte team and being a part of what they do every week for our clients. Despite the tornado warning, six hour rain delay and various car issues I would say it was a pretty fun and successful five days.

What led you to the marketing industry? After I got over the dream of working for NASA I decided that I wanted to work in the sports industry - ideally in NASCAR.

Advice for aspiring marketing pros? Intern as much as possible. Internships help you realize what you like to do and what you don’t like to do. It may seem like a hassle during school, but when it comes time to finding a job, having that experience really helps.
