Cathedral Concerts Welcomes Home Clevelander Marc Cohn

Grammy Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter to Perform at Trinity Cathedral on May 5

CLEVELAND (Feb. 13, 2015) – Cathedral Concerts, a new concert series exclusive to Cleveland, announced today that Cleveland native Marc Cohn will return to the Rock and Roll Capital of the World on Tuesday, May 5, for an intimate performance at Trinity Cathedral.

Cohn learned to play guitar and started writing songs when he was in junior at Beachwood High School, playing and singing with a local band called Doanbrook Hotel. Several years later, after winning a Grammy for his soulful ballad “Walking in Memphis,” Cohn solidified his place as one of this generation’s most compelling singer-songwriters, combining the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man.

He’s a natural storyteller, balancing the exuberant with the poignant, and able to distill universal truth out of his often romantic, drawn-from-life tales. In addition to “Walking in Memphis,” Cohn is best known for songs including: “Silver Thunderbird,” “True Companion” and “Strangers in a Car.”

"Coming home to Cleveland is always very meaningful to me," Cohn stated.“I am looking forward to being a part of this new concert series in such a beautiful, historic and unique space.”

Tickets are $50 and go on sale Tuesday, February 17, at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at, or at the Cathedral Concerts box office (located at 23400 Mercantile Road, Suite #10, Beachwood, Ohio 44122). Fans can also purchase tickets by phone at 1 (866) 468-3401.

As a part of their plan to share the Cathedral Concerts music series to a wider audience, Cleveland’s WVIZ/PBS ideastream will record the show. It will air locally in Cleveland and across the state of Ohio at a later date.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert is set to begin at 8 p.m. An opening act will be announced in the near future.

Cleveland-based agency The Elevation Group conceived, created and is producing
Cathedral Concerts. Cathedral Concerts’ has already staged sold-out concerts featuring nationally acclaimed touring act Red Wanting Blue and Academy Award winner Glen Hansard. Other acts announced include Howard Jones (March 14) and Bruce Hornsby (May 7). Additional shows will be announced in the coming days.

“We are excited to bring Marc Cohn back to Cleveland,” said Denny Young, President of The Elevation Group. “When we decided to launch this series, Marc was the first artist we approached. He said ‘yes’ immediately. We greatly appreciate his interest in our city and what we are staging at Trinity.”

“Music has been part of Trinity's mission for decades,” said the Very Rev. Tracey Lind, Dean of Trinity Cathedral. “Cathedral Concerts not only extends our reach, it is taking it to a whole new level.”
